Founder and President of All India Ulama and Mashaikh Board and chairman of the World Sufi Forum, Hazrat Syed Mohammad Ashraf Kichhochavi, talking to reporters, said that “hatred wants us to get scattered, the decision is left to your discretion.”
Commenting on the current situation, he said that the most people in India are looking for a way to form unity. But Muslims are still divided among themselves over trivial issues. “We Indians need to live in perennial harmony and end the cycle of communal discords”, he appealed.
He further said that the way the conditions are rapidly changing, we will have to decide in consultation with all communities, whether what will protect the country from fear and hatred in which we are caught.
When asked about the recent alliance of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh, he himself posed a question in return: whether these parties in alliance only want Muslims to vote or also get representation?
